Questions & Thoughts

This is where the Reunion was today!!!

Well today was the "Lamb Family Reunion" down in New Brockton (for those of you that don't know where that is, don't blink are you might miss it)... But i do admit, I learned somethings while i was there...

1. Who Howard Lamb was.......
  • This is Granny Esther's Father.... (We had to put on name tags, telling everyone who we were, and who we were from.... Lamb wise).
2. I had 5 people tell me today that I looked just like...... Granny Esther
  • Wow, How cool is that???? You know growing up, I had always heard people tell everyone in the family that Alice was the spitting image of her, (which that explains now why i always wanted to be pretty much like alice when i was younger)... Hair color, frinkles and all.... You tell me, what do you think??? Of course you all know what I look like!!!!

3. I know that's the first Lamb event, i have been to since Grandaddy died, I know that's not a good thing, and NO, I am not bragging about that. It was actually great to see family that I don't see very often, and also family that I talk to on a daily basis... (Connie, you would be included on the latter part also). Though it would have been great to see you, Rene and her family, and Cathy too... And Chip & Denver, oh and for sure Will & Megan

4. I met Aunt Clopate's (not sure if spelled right, so if someone that's on that side of the family could tell me different, I don't mind changing) son today, (though i am sure more than likely i had met him previously, but hey we all grow up) dad introduced me to him, I can remember when i was a kid going down to what i called Driggerville and spending time with her... I use to love to go and see her, she was a cool lady in my book!

5. You know a lot of people would be able to tell you the exact Road number and sign that you turn to get down to New Brockton, the funny thing is, (now if you all know me and have been in the car with me driving) I am the one to tell you, turn right at the light with the Burger King, and keep driving a bit, until you come to the light, then you drive till you see the BIG white house, and turn right.... Well as I learned today, I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT MESSES UP AND MAY HAVE TO TURN AROUND BECAUSE SHE MISSED HER TURN!!!! Right, Alice? Jennifer?? But you know we all knew that when we saw aunt eloise's house, that we were right down the road from Bethany....

6. Well before everyone left today, they got everyone that was in the Howard Lamb family together (24 of us) and had us all stand/sit together and get a picture.... (Me & Alice kept asking if they had a BIG enough lenses to capture everybody)... They kept telling mom, that they couldn't see her face.. Bless her heart.... (WHEN I GET A COPY OF THE PICTURE I WILL POST ON HERE FOR EVERYONE)

Well, I had to post some thoughts and Questions about the Reunion on here for my family and friends... I hope that everyone is doing great and for those that I didn't get to see today, I hope to see you all soon...

***Oh by the way, shout out to my cousin Will (Southwell), I heard about the hand, I hope it gets better real soon... Oh and you look great on the cup***

QUICK UPDATE

WELL IT'S MONDAY AGAIN IN THE GUMP, AND I AM ON MY LUNCH HOUR, I JUST ATE MY SANDWICH, AND TOOK MY ANTIBOTIC, THOUGH I WILL BE GLAD WHEN I AM FINISHED WITH IT, BECAUSE NO LIE, IT IS STARTING TO MESS UP MY TUMMY!!! BUT I TRIED ALL LAST WEEK TO DODGE THE SINUS PROBLEMS, AND TRY TO STOP IT BEFORE IT GOT BAD, BUT GUESS WHAT PEOPLE I WASN'T SUCCESSFUL AT ALL. WITH THE DENTIST WORK I HAD LAST WEEK, AND THEN THE SINUS PRESSURE, I FEEL LIKE MY HEAD IS ABOUT TO EXPLODE INTO A MILLION AND ONE PIECES.. BUT YOU KNOW LIKE GRANNY BOO-BOO WOULD TELL YOU, I AM A TOUGH OLE BIRD... I DO HATE THAT I MISSED THE BRITTS' THIS WEEKEND WHILE THEY WERE IN TOWN. i HEARD THEY PAINTED GRANNY'S SHED THOUGH AND IT WAS BEAUTIFUL, I WILL HAVE TO SEE IT.

WELL I AM GOING TO HAVE SOME MORE DENTAL WORK DONE THIS WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AROUND 1PM. PRAY MY NERVES WILL STAY CALM AND I DON'T GET TO SCARED.

THE "RULES OF THE SOUTH" ARE AS FOLLOWS.....

The 'Rules of the South' are as follows!!!

1. Pull your droopy pants up. You look like an idiot.
2. Turn your cap right, your head isn't crooked.
3. Let's get this straight; it' s called a "gravel road." I drive a pickup truck because I want to. No matter how slow you drive, you're going to get dust on your Lexus. Drive it or get out of the way.
4. They are cattle. That's why they smell to you. They smell like money to us. Get over it. Don't like it? I-40 goes east and west, I-65 goes north and south. Pick one.
5. So you have a $60,000 car. We're impressed. We have $250,000 cotton strippers that are driven only 3 weeks a year.
6. So every person in the south waves. It's called being friendly. Try to understand the concept.
7. If that cell phone rings while a bunch of doves are coming in, we WILL shoot it out of your hand. You better hope you don't have it up to your ear at the time.
8. Yeah, we eat catfish &; crawfish. You really want sushi & caviar? It's available at the corner bait shop.
9. The "Opener" refers to the first day of deer season. It's a religious holiday held the closest Saturday to the first of November.
10. We open doors for women. That is applied to all women, regardless of age.
11. No, there's no "vegetarian special" on the menu. Order steak. Or you can order the Chef's Salad and pick off the 2 pounds of ham & turkey.
12. When we fill out a table, there are three main dishes: meats, vegetables, and breads. We use three spices: salt, pepper, and ketchup! Oh, yeah.... We don't care what you folks in Cincinnati call that stuff you eat...> >IT AIN'T REAL CHILI!!
13. You bring "coke" into my house, it better be brown, wet and
served over ice. You bring "Mary Jane" into my house, she better be cute, know how to shoot, drive a truck, and have long hair.
14. College and High School Football is as important here as the Lakers and the Knicks, and a dang site more fun to watch.
15. Yeah, we have golf courses. But don't hit the water hazards -- it spooks the fish.
16. Colleges? We have them all over. We have State Universities, Universities, and Vo-techs. They come outta there with an education plus a love for God and country, and they still wave at everybody when they come for the holidays.
17. We have more folks in the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines. So don't mess with us. If you do, you will get whipped by the best.
18. Turn down that blasted car stereo! That thumpity-thump crap
isn't music, anyway. We don't want to hear it anymore than we want to see your boxers!
> >Refer back to #1!

A day 1/2 in the life of me

Well it's nearly 4:30 on Thursday, and i told a co-worker of mine i would stay until 5pm for her since she wasn't planning on doing so, but got left to it when are switchboard lady had to leave for her grandchild. Nothing more i can say on that.....Just figured i would be nice and help a co-worker out...

Well today on my lunch break, I went to see a close friend of mine's mother that's in the hospital, (God Bless you Ms. White, and i hope you Get to feeling much better really soon). Throughout the years of me knowing and Ann and coming close to her family and oh loving her better half's fried chicken (i know it's not good for you, but i promise you if you try his, you'll think other wise), when she would call her mom from work, I would get on the phone and talk to Ms. White, (she called me her little friend), it made my day to get to talk to her, many conversations i have had with her, and can remember them all (especially her going to get her stick after me because i had went a whole week without talking to her)... But i went and held her hand in the Hospital for a little bit today....

Well the Britts' are in, they came driving in early this a.m. (like while my eyes were still shut) i am going to try and get by to see them while they are in this trip, though i can't promise anything at all at this point...

Well I had an eventful time at the dentist yesterday afternoon (for those of you that know me, know why i say eventful)... And I will leave it at that..... ***Wink, Wink Furfer***

Anyhow, i am fixing to leave this desk at work for today (and the phones too, I hope I don't answer the phone tonight "Licensing, this is Michelle").

The Secret

The Secret
One day, one friend asked another,
"How is it that you are always so happy?
You have so much energy,
and you never seem to get down."

With her eyes smiling, she said,
"I know the Secret!"
"What secret is that?"
To which she replied,
"I'll tell you all about it,
but you have to promise to
share the Secret with others."

"The Secret is this:
I have learned there is little I can do
in my life that will make me truly happy.
I must depend on God to make
me happy and to meet my needs.
When a need arises in my life,
I have to trust God to supply
according to HIS riches.
I have learned most of the time
I don't need half of what I think I do.
He has never let me down.
Since I learned that 'Secret', I am happy."

The questioner's first thought was,
"That's too simple!"
But upon reflecting over her own life
she recalled how she thought a bigger house
would make her happy, but it didn't!
She thought a better paying job
would make her happy, but it hadn't.
When did she realize her greatest happiness?
Sitting on the floor with her grandchildren,
playing games, eating pizza or reading a story,
a simple gift from God.

Now you know it too!
We can't depend on people to make us happy.
Only GOD in His infinite wisdom can do that.
Trust HIM!
And now I pass the Secret on to you!
So once you get it, what will you do?

The Luau

The Luau for Mr. & Mrs. Michael Wesson was tonight, I am having some problems with my jaw and a tooth (in which i am up under a Dentist for) has put me on a antibotic and a pain pill (in which both) make me a tad loopy, so since i was able to go to Jamaica and see the actual wedding i opted to stay at home while my parentals took granny boozer to the Luau, though don't get me wrong i sent the camera & the 800 photo stick with poppie to take pictures. I hate that i am missing the Luau, but at least i have the memories and the stories from Jamaica 'mon!!!

I just wanted to say Thanks again to Aunt May, Uncle Tom & especially Josh for allowing me to travel with them by plane to Jamaica. ***By the way Bubba sorry for the deathly grip on your jeans as we were landing in Jamaica, that run way came out of no where***

Also i wanted to let Brandi & Michael know that i am really happy for them, and extremely lucky to have gained such a great/cool cousin... You rock Michael..... Oh and I really love the family too Michael..... And of course Bre, you know how i feel about you, you have always been the sister that God sent my way through my aunt.. What can i say we will always have the days at granny's where if you wouldn't play with me, i would tell you that fine, we're not cousin's anymore if you don't!!! For some reason you ignored my bratty little ways and continued to play!!! And we will also have the Friday nights at granny's when we were younger with the parentals dropping us off (me telling mine to just leave me at the top of the road that i will walk to my granny's house) and Granny Boo-Boo asking us what we wanted for dinner in 25 words or less.... (Boy can you believe if she had it in the house, no matter what she would fix it for us), and then us falling asleep on a pallet in the living room floor and then on Saturday morning to be woken up by Aunt Sandy at 6 in the a.m.??? I hope you know i love you B!!!!

Much love and congrats on your new marriage, and i wish you both the best of luck in the future you deserve nothing but the best and whatever God has in store....

Love Language

Okay so if you have been keeping track of the blog, you would know that on Tuesday nights, well now Thursday nights, i have been participating in a Bible Study with my Sunday school class called the Five Love Languages for Singles, well on the 5th of July i learned what my top love language was.. (though Ms. Patty could tell me what it was before we even started the book)... can you guess what it is???

Quality Time

"It whispers so listen"

07/10/07

Hey peoples, it's around 6:30 on Tuesday evening, i am listening to it Thunder like crazy outside, i wonder now if we will get some rain??? You know we need it, or should i say i probably need to see it, you know i can honestly tell you all that I missed Sweet Home Alabama while in Jamaica, but it was an experience of a lifetime!!! I do admit now, i will never complain about any highway problems or the HEAT.... I learned to appreciate the wonderful world of what i call the A.C. and not this artificial air or heat... (you know i am starting to sound like Aunt May, artificial heat will kill you)!!! Also, it was a tad crazy last night when mom picked me up from the airport ~~~~ no luggage~~~~~ yeah my luggage was with me in the ATL, but when i hopped that puddle jumper back to the 'Gump my luggage somehow didn't want to come back ~~ all truth i think it went back to Jamaica ~~~ HA!!!! Okay so not funny, but seeing how when we got to Jamaica friday night and ran into B & Wesson and the whole wesson crew oh and Matt & Tootsie they didn't have there luggage!!!! yeah not cool as Brandi would say!!! Me and Josh still don't have luggage as of right this minute!!!! Where are my clothes?? My CROCS!!! yeah you might see me cry, if i don't get my crocs back!!! Aunt may told B that she shouldn't ginks us, but i guess you could say she did, but Bre told us that at least we have a Walmart!!!! (I love ya Bre).
Well i am fixing to get off of this machine, because it is thundering and lighting like crazy, and for those of you that know me know i HATE BAD WEATHER!!!!
I love ya'll

Jamaica Wedding Style

Well this past weekend was the big famous trip to Jamaica 'mon, i had an awesome time! I know because i got to see Brandi marry her soulmate! *** Wesson, welcome to the family whose hearts you have had from Hello*** The first couple of pictures are taken in Brandi & Michael's Villa, before the ceremony, because it was a tad bit late, seeing how when Brandi was in the salon getting her hair done, so was the 330 bride!!! Yikes!!! But Brandi an awesome 360 in flip flops going up the stairs to the Villa, bypassing Uncle Bill & Dixie in the door!!! While the rest of the family (Mr. Billy, Mrs. Reginia, Mamaw, Papa, Justin, Jennifer, Matt, Tootsie, Michael, Josh, Uncle Tom & Me) ~ yeah i know a mouth full and do remember Uncle Bill & Mrs. Dixie...

When we finally got to the place of the ceremony (which was beautiful), it was Bre, Aunt May & Me in the bus with the bride up to the garden, everyone else road up with the groom (Mr. Wesson). The ceremony was beautiful! The bride was down right beautiful (as she always is) and Michael was so handsome in his white shirt (like he always does also!!)

After the ceremony, the couple had to sign the certificate for it to be legal, you know!!!

and the witnesses were Josh (Brandi's brother) & Matt (Michael's friend)
